John's Birthday Celebrated at Nordkapp

Today is a very special day for us because it's John's birthday and we're celebrating it at the most northerly point you can drive to in Continental Europe, and that's Nordkapp on the island of Mageroya in Norway.  To get here from last nights wild camping spot we had to pass under the sea via a tunnel that is nearly 7 km  long as well as 4 other shorter ones, and just to add a few more facts and figures we're still about 1,400 miles below the North Pole and about 250 miles above the Arctic Circle.  Additionally, at the mo we're still enjoying 24 hours of daylight every day, but we still haven't managed to see the midnight sun - maybe our luck will change tonight!

I'm not sure if that's a
bit of a naughty pic!!
Now, it has to be said that although we planned very well to get to Nordkapp, I didn't plan very well for the birthday celebrations cos here I am without either a pressie or even a card😲, so I think the only thing I can do is improvise! There's an old saying that suggests  'the way to a man's heart is though his belly' so maybe my culinary skills will save the day, especially as I've got a very nice 3 course steak dinner planned along with a good bottle of red and even a drop of his favourite Ardbeg Whiskey.

And now I'm going to get a bit sloppy cos I just want to thank him with all my heart for making our present lifestyle possible.  Without all his dedication, planning and driving skills that enable him to take us and our big bus almost anywhere in Europe (and sometimes a bit beyond) our life would be much different to the one we're enjoying every second of now!  Of course we have our ups and downs but travelling as we do has ticked a lot of boxes on our bucket list re places we've always wanted to go,  and more importantly, it's allowed us to spend very precious and fulfilling time together on our explorations, and fingers crossed we can continue doing so for a very long time to come.

Anyway, I suppose what I'm trying to say is a πŸ’–massive thank youπŸ’–  to my chauffeur who I've known and loved for over 45 years πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ˜™πŸ˜™πŸ˜™

71 degrees 10 mins and 21 seconds North!

PS I've got loads more to tell you about Nordkapp but it'll have to wait for next time cos I've got to put my chef's hat on now and make up for my omissions  xx
